Reading Corner: Halloween Favorites

Jack could not wait until October to put on his new skeleton pjs and dive into some Halloween reading. Below are his current favorite spooky and fun books. Perfect for kids ages 3-6, these books are sure to keep your little ones entertained!

AVA THE MONSTER SLAYER Written by Lisa Maggiore and Illustrated by Ross Felten
Ava the Monster Slayer tells the story of a young girl who rescues her favorite stuffed piggy from a monster-infested basement, all while donning her signature glasses, her brother’s superhero cape, her rain boots, and a sparkly princess crown. Why leave all the fighting and world-saving to the guys? Ava the Monster Slayer teaches both girls and boys that women can be strong, be brave, and courageous.

I WANT TO EAT YOUR BOOKS Written by Karin Lefranc and Tyler Parker
The perfect monster book for little ones who want a thrill but aren’t looking for anything too scary, this book shares the story of a hungry zombie who stumbles into a school looking for books to consume. It’s up to the kids to teach him how books are for reading, not eating! This monster book is silly and fun with a strong message about kindness, friendship and value of books. The little zombie teaches kids not to jump to conclusions and to give everyone a chance.

THE RUNAWAY PUMPKIN: A HALLOWEEN ADVENTURE STORY Written by Anne Margaret Lewis and Illustrated by Aaron Zenz
A little Halloween pumpkin announces that he is ready for a Halloween adventure and prepares to set out on the exploration of a lifetime. His attentive and caring mother wants to make sure he’s prepared before he takes that first step outside. This book encourages kids to use their imaginations and to go on adventures. *Jack loved all three books but he said this was his favorite one!
