Real Inspiration: Real Nursery

One of my favorite things while preparing for Jack's arrival was to design and decorate his nursery. With the love and passion in mind, I decided to create a new feature on Hello Jack. I'm excited to share with you Real Inspiration: Real Nursery, this new series will showcase my favorite real life nurseries and hopefully it will inspire you to create a beautiful nursery! We kick off this series with one of my favorite nurseries, it belongs to Price, the sweetest 14 month old I know. Pricey's mom is one of my dearest friends and one of the most stylish momma's I know. With a mix mid century, modern, vintage elements this nursery is a true reflection of the aesthetic seen throughout Coco's home - which I'm hoping to share soon on Layers of Meaning. Enjoy!

When Sean and I began planning the nursery design for our first child, it was a bit daunting. Our style is a mishmash of modern, midcentury modern, vintage, and eclectic, and we weren't really sure how to incorporate that into an infant's room. Our other challenge was one that many young couples are faced with: a limited budget. So we had to use a lot of what we already had to create a look that we loved for less. We knew that we loved the grey/yellow color combo, so we started there. We also gleaned some style inspiration from Jenna Lyon's son's nursery, featured on the pages of Domino magazine. While we were not brave enough to attempt ceiling stripes (and knew we'd quickly grow tired of them), we tried to channel a bit of that boldness through a fresh chunky stripe of yellow that goes around the room.

We still don't feel that the room is entirely "finished", but because of that, it's fun to slowly add new items to the room here and there, and as Price gets older we know he'll truly make the space his own. For now, it feels fresh and happy - and judging by the huge grin on Price's face every single morning, he agrees.
