Company Spotlight: Home Chef

As a busy mom, scratching things off my do list is one of the most satisfying things to do. I try to meal plan as much as possible -- it not only helps stay within my food budget but it also helps maintain a healthy lifestyle -- but sometimes life gets in the way and I'm left wondering what to cook for dinner. Having someone meal plan for you based on your food preferences and dietary restrictions is such a big help! Home Chef is Chicago-based meal kit delivery service that makes dinner time easy. Offering a variety of meal options and plans, including gluten-free, low carb, vegetarian, soy-free and nut-free meals, each meal can be cooked from scratch in about 30 minutes. With fresh ingredients and easy to follow recipes, Home Chef gives busy families delicious meals every night of the week.

Home Chef was founded with a simple goal: to provide customers with a delightful home cooking experience. Founder, Pat Vihtelic, and his wife found it hard to make time to prepare home cooked dinners after work. Pat discovered that online grocery services only solved part of the problem — he still had to think about what was for dinner, and didn’t have time to comb the internet for recipes. More often than not, he was overwhelmed by the prospect of meal planning, and resorted to takeout.

White Wine Garlic Chicken with Roasted Potatoes

Last week we received our first box and we loved both of the meals we cooked. The white wine and lemon-butter sauce with lightly toasted garlic -- lots of garlic -- was absolutely delicious.

Pan-Seared Steak and Potatoes with horseradish-parsley mayo, yum yum sauce and curry ketchup

Who doesn't love a good steak? Paired with crispy potatoes and a selection of 3 unique sauces, this meal was the perfect dish for a Friday night at home. The horseradish-parsley mayo was hands down my favorite one, Brad's favorite was the curry ketchup.
