Free To You - Children's Workshops

I've been trying to find some indoor (GA weather is already in the 90's) activities for us to do with Jack. If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram then you might've see the picture I posted of Jack at Lowe's.  Lowe's offers free kids clinics on select stores every other Saturday and Sunday of each month. While some of the projects are geared towards older children, the experience is still great for younger kids. On June 8th, Jack and I went to a Monsters University sponsored workshop and "we" put together two movable scarries - Scully and Mike Wazowski. During the month on June, Lowe's is offering fun wooden kits inspired by the new Disney movie.

Jack and Sulley

Jack not only received two wooden kits but he also got an apron and a patch upon completion of his projects. We had such a great time during this workshop that I've already signed him up (and Brad) for the next one held June 22nd.

A few recommendations:

  • Make sure you register online first:  Our workshop was packed, if you want to insure your child receives a kit, make sure you register before attending.
  • Call your store after registering: If your child is younger than the recommended age - Jack is - make sure you call and get the ok from the store before bringing your child in.
  • Be there ahead of time: We arrived at 9:50 and there was already a line waiting to get into the workshop. There were about 6 other children ahead of us and we were the last ones to get a free apron.
Home Depot also offers free kids workshops during the first Saturday of every month (Jack is also registered for this clinic). During the month of July, children will create crafts inspired by new Despicable Me 2 movie.  Home Depot's workshops also provide children with a free apron and a commemorative pin.

Are you and your family attending any other free activities this summer?
I would love to hear what you have planned!
